Repairing the Power Lines
One of the most thrilling things as a photographer is to be at the right place at the right time together with my camera(s). I spotted this site on the way home one night and was immediately captivated by the contrasts between light and dark, the light reflecting from the power lines and the striking colors in what would otherwise be the complete darkness of night. To capture it, I needed to lie down in a water-carriageway ditch and plant my D300 firmly on the ground as I was without a tripod.
Autumn Grapes in Gush Etzion
There are few fruit as sweet and juicy and tasty as the fruit of the vine. To capture this image, I stood literally inches away from this bundle of grapes, smelling the rich aroma of the ground beneath my feet as well as the fruity perfume from the grapes. This was the last plump bundle of grapes that I found during the entire day of shooting the vineyards of central Israel.
Yellow Plane and Building
Some people have a fear of flying while others are thrilled to defy gravity, pushing their planes to the very edge. This image captures a crop duster pilot exercising his throttle arm as he dives, climbs and rolls his yellow plane over the fields close to the hills of the Shomeron in Israel. It appears as if he is flying his last sortee into a building and though he is close to the stone walls he is in fact behind the building.
Thinking....
Finding an old model car is to a photographer like stumbling over a pot of gold and to a child, something dreams are made of. I this photograph, the lovely boy sat down in front of the car and put his head in his hands. I turned around, saw the amazing opportunity, raised my NIKON and shot a few frames, capturing this timeless image. The upper right-hand corner of the image gives a hint that the car is part of a larger picture, perhaps on someone’s property, perhaps on the edge of a street....
